A Colorful Celebration of Culture

Help me give my students a cultural celebration! Holi is celebrated in March and I would love to have a school wide activity to celebrate a different culture than they're used to.

My Students

My students love expressing who they are. Whether it's through class participation, after school clubs and activities, or even the clothes they wear. As a predominately white, middle class community, sometimes the minority students get lost in the crowd. Our group, Culture Crew, is working to highlight and educate our entire student body on the various groups and cultures that make up the wonderful diversity of our school culture. This is done through classroom lessons, lunch time activities, and after school programs. The students in Culture Crew love creating activities and interacting with their peers as they highlight some of their favorite cultural traditions.

Supplies are needed for our activities.

We target over 1,300 students for 7 different monthly activities and would love to open up more possibility with additional resources.

My Project

Students need a celebration right now to remind them that life can still be fun during stressful times. An after school activity that allows them to let loose, throw some chalk in the air, and celebrate a different culture seems like just the right recipe!

The symbolic release of the chalk is a reminder that good always triumphs and change can be welcomed.

Each student will receive a packet of chalk. After some education and instruction, students will let the chalk fly! Teachers are invited and encouraged to participate as well.
