My students need a colorful and comfortable carpet and place to sit during carpet time!
The students in my classroom are extremely eager to learn a new language and need a nice place to sit and learn during calendar and puppet time! Some of my students struggle with personal space and this carpet would help with that, while also reinforcing common vocabulary.
I teach 50% low income and 50% not.
A few of my students are already native Spanish speakers and enjoy teaching their English speaking classmates words, phrases, and more! I teach at an amazing charter school in Westminster, Colorado, however it is my first year teaching here and my classroom is somewhat bare.
Everyday, when my students enter we do calendar time in Spanish, followed by vocabulary review and puppet time (when I literally talk to a puppet- they love it!). However, the students don't have a place to sit, and since they are so young would benefit greatly from a designated place.
My project will make a difference because it will allow students to enter into my classroom quickly, quietly, and know where to sit.
Right now, they have no boundaries for carpet time, and some of my students struggle with personal space. This carpet will help my children sit in a designated place and be able to better focus during the first ten minutes of class. It will also reinforce common vocabulary words.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
