I teach exceptional learners in grades five through eight in a resource room setting. My students are impacted by a variety of disabilities, including learning disabilities, autism, emotional disturbances, and ADHD. With a wide range of abilities comes a colorful spectrum of needs that I constantly find inventive ways to accommodate and support.
Each and every one of them has the capacity to be highly successful if given the right tools and at least one person who believes in them.
My Project
My students are in need of trapper binders with zippers in order to maintain some semblance of organization. The majority of them have assignments that get marked missing because they misplace their materials. This means their grades don't accurately reflect their academic abilities.
"With organization comes empowerment," and the opportunity for students to have all of their materials in one place.
This will eliminate time spent searching for papers in desks, lockers, and various classrooms and let it instead be used to focus on completing tasks.
My students have been begging for the 1.3 mm pencils because they have stronger lead that doesn't break easily. The two pencils I have are in high demand in my classroom, and I'd like to be able to provide my students with their own to use in other classes.
