This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The most heavily trafficked areas in our classroom are the rugs. We have a large rug in the front of the room that we use multiple times a day. It serves as our meeting space for classroom check-ins, whole group lessons, small group instruction, student meetings, and read alouds. The kids love to sprawl on the rug and complete their independent work. Additionally, we have a smaller rug in our classroom library nook. It's a cozy place for students to curl up with their favorite book.
Our much-used and much-loved rugs need more frequent vacuuming.
Not only will daily vacuuming keep dust allergies at bay, it will also help instill a sense of ownership and pride for the students as they take care of our classroom. It's a win-win for the class!
