Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my preschool for all learners class, we work with three to five-year-old children of varying ability levels with IEPs. During our daily routines, we have teacher-led group activities and child-directed free choice play experiences that are individualized to each student’s abilities and needs.
My students come from low-income households and a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
My students love hands-on material and visuals that inspire learning and curiosity. They are very creative, fun-loving, and enthusiastic learners. Unfortunately, sometimes it is difficult to provide them with all the help and material they need because of a lack of resources at home and in the classroom. In March of 2020, our district went to distance learning, and students and their families struggled to maintain their learning environment without the proper resources commonly found in the classroom.
My Project
Six years ago when I became a teacher I inherited a carpet that was not in the best condition. Unfortunately over the years it has gotten worse. I would love to give my students the opportunity to have a clean and nice looking carpet were they can sit, lay, play, and participate during circle time.
This new carpet is where we will gather for morning circle, read alouds, music and movement, goodbye circle and it is where our classroom community building will start taking place.
Each student will be able to have a designated space where they can sit and enjoy our many different activities.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
