This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students would truly benefit from a clean rug to sit on during instruction.
I teach an enthusiastic group of first graders.
They attend a gifted magnet school in which they are challenged to reach their academic potential through differentiated teaching. Since they are only six years old, it's important for them to move locations throughout instruction so they can reach their potential. One way that I help keep their attention is through movement from the rug to their desks and/or groups.
My Project
I am requesting a new classroom rug. Our current rug is several years old and therefore pretty worn and dirty. This year, one student even developed an allergic reaction to the dust on our rug and had to sit separately so she would not get itchy. My students use the rug for close instruction, meeting in groups, and an alternative to chair sitting. The rug is used daily, multiple times, and therefore it is necessary for it to be clean.
Donations to our class project would ensure a clean spot for everyone.
We greatly appreciate your contribution and consideration toward something in our classroom that is used so often.
