My Project

I work at a combined middle high school in a small northern town where supplies and staff are hard to come by. Our school does not have the custodial staff to be able to keep our school cleaned on a daily basis.

It is important to provide and model a clean and safe environment for our students.

My goal is to keep all students safe and healthy. Our school cleaning items are in short supply. As a classroom teacher, I take it upon myself to purchase cleaning and hygiene products to make sure the classroom is cleaned each day and ready for students. Modeling cleanliness while giving students an authentic experience will be useful outside of the classroom environment. Treating all things with respect is a beneficial skill to learn that will be useful in everyday life.

Living in a small town limits the exposure to outside influences. As this can have its positive aspects, it can also be a detriment. The students at this school enjoy the personal aspect and the sense of community while participating in more menial tasks; but tasks that are also meaningful. What a wonderful way to enjoy the company of those around you.
