A Clean Classroom Leads to Better Student Performance!
My students need a variety of cleaning supplies such as paper towels, tissues, cleansing wipes, etc. We are trying to promote better attendance in my classroom by creating a germ free zone!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, educating students mainly on the Autism spectrum. I have eight terrific, eager to learn students, who show such great enthusiasm to learn each day. They need various types of supports to learn new skills in school including visual, auditory and tangible supports.
Every child is unique, whether they have a disability or not!
Although I provide an individualized learning program for each child, they have all helped me to understand that even the smallest steps of progression can sometimes be our greatest achievements. It is important that I give them a learning environment that is supportive to all of their needs, as well as a culture that is positive to learning.
My Project
Would you have thought that cleanliness would be a contributing factor in affecting student performance? Sometimes we are so focused on how we can increase a students performance instructionally, when we should be looking at the students health and attendance too. Unfortunately, there are not enough cleaning supplies available for my students, and their attendance is slowly declining because they are constantly getting sick.
A clean environment is a more productive environment for everyone!
Two ways to increase student performance are to increase student attendance and teach children to be responsible by creating classroom jobs! Every time a student misses class, their student performance is decreasing. With your donations, you will be helping each one of my students to become more successful in school.
As stated earlier, not only does a clean room promote better academic outcomes, we can also create a clean classroom by teaching the children responsibilities. Having classroom jobs where the students can use these cleaning supplies can promote positive changes to the behavior of students, which can improve the academic outcomes at any grade level.
