Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am new to the school, but come with many years of teaching experience. Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten is a fun, enthusiastic, loving, and exciting grade. Students come in happy and eager to learn.
I am eager to meet my brand new group of students and create a fun, warm, and inviting space for them to learn and thrive.
Kindergarten is vital in preparing students to become academically and socially successful in future grades. For this reason, we must give them an experience that will allow them to be successful.
My Project
My Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students would greatly benefit from sitting on a clean rug during whole group instruction. The rug I've chosen has 25 spots, which will provide each student with their own personal space, as well as create the warm and welcoming classroom environment they deserve.
Additionally, a classroom rug is vital in primary classrooms because a majority of our instruction takes place on the floor.
We meet on the rug for morning meeting, calendar time, story time, we practice collaborative conversations and social skills with our peers, center time, and during whole group instruction.
Providing a rug for my students will enhance their learning experience, as well as help build a fun, welcoming, and healthy classroom community.
