My Students
The students at ERTES come from a wide range of ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
60% of the students receive free lunch and 80% of the students speak a foreign language at home.
Our school has the biggest elementary-aged student population in our district, and offers three distinct language strands to our students. Students are offered a wide variety of enrichment classes and activities including instrumental music classes, art, physical education, garden, dance, and various holiday festivals.
ERTES's school model is "We are College Bound." Everything that we teach at our school is for the sake of instilling a purpose of attending college for each and every one of the students.
My Project
Last September, our classroom fan broke down in the middle of a heatwave and my students had to endure 90 degree heat while learning. In order to make due, we learned with the lights off and the windows open. Last May, two weeks before the school year ended, our classroom vacuum cleaner broke down.
Our classroom needs fans and a vacuum cleaner in order to stay cool during the hot days and to keep our classroom carpet clean.
One of the most popular classroom jobs is vacuuming the classroom carpet, not only does it keep the carpet clean and free of dust mites, it also teaches the students responsibility. Learning in an environment that is too hot is extraordinarily difficult for students, that is why we need a fan.
