A Classroom Zoo

My students need a rabbit hutch as well as reptile/turtle care supplies to help maintain the health and well being of our current animals as well as to add additional animals to the classroom.

My Students

This project will help to serve my Zoology class. The students in this class are Juniors and Seniors who study different animals groups throughout the course of the year.

The purpose of this class is to teach students about many different animals, while also giving them hands on experience with different types of animals.

Currently a major component of the class is the animals care, where students help take care of the class animals. All of the animals have become like family to the students and they love taking care of them.

My Project

As a science teacher I get the amazing opportunity to expose students to a variety of different aspects of science. As a Zoology and Biology teacher one way I do that is through having classroom pets in the class.

In my Zoology class we simply don't just learn about animals, but also get the hands on experience of caring for animals in our class zoo.

By getting the chance to take care of a wide variety of animals students get a hands on learning experience.

Maintaining the animals habitats and caring for their basic needs can become very costly. This project will help to purchase some needed necessities as well as allow us to add a new animal, a bunny, to our zoo. You can see below that the donations will go to buying a new bunny hutch, as well as needed supplies for the bunny such as turf and a potty. Some of the other items include a new ramp, rocks, lights and food for our pet turtle Squirt. All of the items will directly help the animal either already in the classroom or for future animals.
