This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are exceptional learners and deserve a comfortable and cozy classroom to learn in. I do my best to offer them an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. I am a special education teacher and I have a large amount of students that I support with their academics.
I find that the first few months of school as well as the last few months can become almost unbearable in the school due to heat.
Our school is very old and does not have air conditioning. Only a few of the windows can open, and in my classroom specifically, there is one window. It can be hard to get the most out of the students when they are struggling to stay comfortable in the classroom.
Having an AC unit would greatly help them out. Asking them to sit and work 7 hours a day in 90+ degree heat is unfair to them. If we can give students a comfortable space to learn they will enjoy coming to school.
I also included some cleaning supplies, to help keep our classroom clean and safe as there are students coming in and out of my classroom. The Kleenex will help prevent the spread of germs, which will keep my students in school and learning.
We are always running low on expo markers so extras are always useful!
