Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher with a very diverse group of students. Every day the students bring a different challenge to teaching, but it makes each moment exciting.
My students lead with a caring heart towards each other and treat our classroom like a home.
They are the reason I come to work every day to watch their minds grow and their curiosity for learning come through. I really enjoy finding ways to activate their curiosity and fuel their minds with knowledge.
My students are economically and culturally diverse coming from many backgrounds. Some students transfer from various cities into our school and every time my students are there to welcome them with open minds and hearts.
My Project
My students at our school lost both of our computer labs, so we are down to only 5 iPads. These 5 iPads my 22 students share, currently our in the process of getting replaced. So, we are currently without technology. With the iPads my students will be able to collaborate on group projects. They will be able to apply their knowledge and learning in order to play games and apps that support their learning styles. For example: I could have one group of students read about a topic, others could watch a video about the same topic, while another group played a game to have more interaction about the topic. Having these iPads will allow me to cater to each individual student's learning style. We can use the iPads for informal assessments and projects as well as required district assessments. These iPads would promote motivation, collaboration, individual approaches to learning, and creativity, all while allowing them to take control of their own learning.
Technology is so important in our world today.
I want every students to be able to work on their iPads and collaborate with others and an educational platforms to become successful!
By implementing these iPads into my classroom, I will be giving my students the tools that they will need to succeed. By receiving iPads it will help my students today and in the future.
