This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Working in a low income, high poverty community, Title 1 school, I am aware my students need the proper technology and supplies to succeed. My students work to the best of their ability, and it's amazing to see how much they have accomplished so far. My students live in what was the epicenter of the coronavirus in NYC. They live in Corona, Queens, where the majority of families are Hispanic. They have had an extremely hard year and returning to school may seem a little scary for them. To ease their fears, classrooms have to meet CDC guidelines to ensure that staff and students are safe. Because my students struggle financially, some families with two, three or more children are sharing one device, one cellphone, one notebook, and one crayon box. That is no way for students to learn. My students deserve the absolute best, no matter the barrier they face.
In my classroom, I strive to meet each child's unique individual needs.
My students absolutely deserve the best education possible.
My Project
The use of a colored printer will bring a colorful image to my student's minds when learning. Currently, my students only have access to images in black and white, which leads to a very foggy imagination. Seeing things in real life and with abstract color will allow my students to learn first hand.
By donating to this colored printer, you are not only helping my students further their education, but you are bringing life and color into our classrooms.
Also in this project, there are some math and ELA games. These games will help my children further their understanding of certain 2nd, 3rd, and fourth-grade skills.
