Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are compassionate, energetic, critical thinkers who are eager to learn. Many of them are growing up in poverty. Many of them are growing up hoping to be the first in their family to break the cycle of poverty and lead a successful life. My students come from all over the world and speak many different languages but despite their differences they always have an open mind to leaning new things.
Many of my students have different learning styles, different needs and require different accommodations to help them learn.
My students need a safe, loving, and encouraging space to help them learn. Most importantly my students need the opportunity to learn in an environment that fits their needs to become successful learners. Each of my students has the potential to be successful not only in the classroom but also in life.
My Project
All of my students enter the classroom ready to learn regardless of what they have going on at home. Each of them has a different learning style and many of them need to constantly be moving. Flexible seating will allow my students to choose where they will sit for the day encouraging them to be responsible learners. My students who like to rock in their regular seats will benefit from using a wobble chair by being able to rock without the risk of falling back in their chairs. Stability balls will encourage my students to focus on their work by allowing them to lightly bounce at their work station. The seat cushions will benefit my students who prefer the more traditional option seating by allowing them to have a more comfortable, and fun seat alternative versus a regular chair.
Every one of my students has the right to become a successful learner in the classroom.
In providing different seating options I am allowing my students the opportunity to learn in a way that suits them best. It is my job as their teacher to make sure that I provide them with the materials they need in order to be successful in the classroom. In creating a flexible seating environment my students will become more engaged in their work and less disruptive to their peers. Help my students become successful, positive, responsible learners!
