A Classical Guitar for At-Risk Kids

My Students

Our school serves a great group of kids with the goal of getting each one ready to succeed in high school and college. But most haven't had advantages that so many kids enjoy.

All of our students transferred to our school from other high schools for various reasons.

Some kids could not succeed academically in their previous schools. Others faced family or personal problems that led them to drop out. Most of our students are considered at risk. Fortunately these kids now attend a school with a very supportive community. At our school students work at their own pace, receive a lot of individualized support, and celebrate one another's accomplishments. For many it's a dream come true to find a calm, safe place where they can concentrate on graduating from high school!

My Project

For this project we simply need one guitar to add to our guitar collection in the classroom. Right now we have one acoustic guitar and one classical guitar available for student to practice on and play during lunch and before and after school. Recently some students have expressed an interest in playing classical guitar duets. The second guitar we request will enable our students to do just that.

With your generosity you will give our wonderful and deserving students a musical opportunity through playing classical guitar duets that they would otherwise not have the chance to experience!
