This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyone remembers that one book as a child that had you flipping through pages, tired eyes, waiting with baited breath to see what happens next. I want my students to experience that with a book that year after year proves to be an absolute favorite.

They fall in love with the characters on the first page, relating to them in ways they never thought they would.

With so many screens in today's world, I want my kids to fall in love with a book that they can read and hold in their hands. The smell of new pages, the crisp snap of turning the pages, the feeling of holding the book in your hand knowing you've read the whole thing. Everyone needs that feeling, right?

My Project

As teachers, we want students to have access to text at all times. There is something to be said about each having their own copy of a book that we're working through as a class. We'll read the book from cover to cover, while analyzing characters, defining unknown vocabulary and relating events in the story to our real lives.

Students will each be able to follow along themselves & then access the text independently.

I could type up chapters for them, but it is so much more engaging and exciting to hold a book in their hands. These books will not only be used by my students this school year but also by students in future years.
