This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students can broaden their minds through reading and having a set of The Gold Cadillac will allow us to start having a book club/novel study in our classroom.

A majority of my students have never been given the opportunity to read a chapter book before, and this year I'd love to expose them to the magic and excitement that lies within these great books.

By the end of this school year I'd love to ignite a love for reading in the hearts of my students. I teach in an at-risk, Title 1 school. My students are passionate, excited and eager to become better students. Unfortunately they aren't exposed to opportunities or resources that allow them to explore their passions. I serve a struggling school with minimal funding put towards classroom books and resources, therefore it is my job to ensure my students receive a quality education despite the setbacks that exist within the school. My students desire to succeed in school and their grit never ceases to amaze me. Regardless of obstacles seen in their home lives, my students show up bright-eyed and ready to learn every morning.

My Project

If I receive a class set of The Gold Cadillac I will be able to conduct book clubs, book studies, read alouds, and much more with my students. I am incredibly excited to watch all of my students read the same book, simultaneously, and hear their feedback and opinions on the text. My classroom is currently without a class set of any materials (notebooks, scissors, glue) therefore I'm working towards changing this before the school year begins! Allowing every child in my room to read these exciting chapter books gives them the opportunity to dive into the excitement, suspense, and joy within these great books.

My project will make a difference in the lives of my students because it will be the first class set of chapter books my students have ever received.

My students will have access to brand new books, and they will all be able to read the same book and discuss their reading with those around them. My students will have the opportunity to learn from one another, converse on their opinions, be exposed to challenging text, and become life-long learners and readers.
