My students need help with increasing their math basic skills and number sense operations. With the Math Brain Electronic Game, Math Word Problem Warm-Up, and Math Bingo Library my students will increase their basic skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Priority School, which means our school has been identified as among the lowest-performing five percent of Title I schools in the state over the past three years. Priority schools in this category have an overall three-year proficiency rate of 31.6%. Our students struggle in the areas of readings and mathematics. 100% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast.
In the area of mathematics, our third graders lack the basic skills needed to become successful problem solvers.
My goal for the upcoming school year is to increase my students' basic math skills and place value skills with better number sense.
My Project
Increasing my students' number sense will help build their basic math fluency facts and math skills for life. With the Math Brain Electronic Games, Pick-A-Problem Math Warm-Ups, Math Bingo Library, and Building Math Skills Write and Wipe, my students' math skills will be enhanced, daily. As each tool is incorporated with daily lessons and guided practices, students will gain needed practice and an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding. Through repeated practices with games and write boards, students will increase their interest level in math practices. These materials will help keep students engaged in learning in a fun, non-threatening way. Math games and manipulatives are a sure way to help students learn and grow.
