This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
At our school, we have an amazing group of students ranging from ages 3 to 4 years old in a pre-k classroom. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. They come into our classrooms every day, eager to learn, ready to take on new and challenging tasks, and excited for what is in store. My students are eager to learn and enjoy reading, math, science, and hands-on projects. I want them to feel safe and know they can accomplish anything if they apply themselves. There is no such thing as I can't; always remember to turn to the I can!
My Project
My project will help my class to understand how fun and important our earth is. We want them to experience science first hand by engaging in environmental life experiences with these science materials. Getting the science set, which includes bug jars, is going to be great for this class. The students are very curious and are willing to learn about anything that is crawling or flying around earth. They love pretending to find fossils from dinosaurs saying, "The T-Rex is coming back real soon." My response is, "Wouldn't that be very cool to see." Who knew we had a class full students with huge and very interesting imaginations. So I tell them, "Let's jump right in and explore new and exciting things; as you know, we all learn something new every day."
