My Students
Margaret Mead once said, "Children must be taught how to think, not what to think." That is what I strive to do in my classroom. I want my children to be curious, ask questions, research, test and own knowledge that comes from knowing how to think. I teach 24 students, including 3 students from the Resource Specialist Program. My school is not considered a Title I school.
We do not receive a lot of funds from the school district, so the teachers do not have decent computers to use for teaching.
My Project
My students come with little knowledge but with open and curious minds. A MacBook computer will give my students access to the world around them in any subject. They will be able to study bugs and photos of different stages of bugs. They will be able to watch a video of weather snowstorm. They will be listen to music about different ocean animals. They will be able to look at art by famous artists. The possibilities are limitless!
My students participate in inquiry-based learning, and having a laptop that is up-to-date with current capabilities will dramatically improve their learning.
