Many of my students face difficult challenges, but they are so resilient. My students are leaders. They take part in making our class better, from cleaning the board to decorating for each other’s birthdays. They teach each other lessons on how to be a leader. I want them to take these skills into the future! Reading is the key!
These resources will give students many exciting choices of things to read. The books chosen for our library will be engaging and help the students learn about themselves and the world. A child who reads can escape from the real world a bit, can learn to deal with his or her challenges through the characters, and grows in their vocabulary and their knowledge of the world. This not only helps them socially and emotionally, but academically as well. Many of my students do not have books in their homes, so they were not reading when things got shut down. This will help them to see the fun and joy that come from reading a book. Today's readers are truly tomorrow's leaders.
