Students in a co-teaching classroom are such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some students are learning to comprehend grade level text, write essays, and do multi-step mathematics problems while other are learning to read fluently, write a sentence, or learn their addition facts. Despite their differences, our students always make an effort to encourage each other to do better and to try hard.
Our school is located in a rural part of our state and a large percentage of our students live below the poverty line causing many to have no access to computers or the internet at home.
As technology continues to be integrated into all aspects of modern life, it is so important for us to have the ability to expose them to technology as much as possible.
My Project
My classroom is a co-taught environment where students with disabilities are included in the same setting as students who are not a part of the Special Education program.
All students in my classroom will use these requested five Samsung Chromebook laptop computers daily in reading, math, science, and social studies.
They will especially make use of the laptops during the literacy block to make use of our school-wide literacy software program and create projects using various Chrome applications. Daily use of these Chromebooks will also help them to learn vital computer skills which will be needed as they begin state mandated testing on the computer next school year.
With the Chromebooks, all of my students will be able to broaden their understanding of the world outside of our small rural town through daily science and mathematics instruction.
It is so important that I expose them to as much new information about the world as I can. These Chromebooks will allow me to truly make a difference in their lives.
