it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am asking for donations to provide my students with the opportunity to have a choice of comfortable seating. I am a special education teacher and I have noticed that it can be very challenging for students to sit on a hard plastic chair behind a wooden desk for several hours. They become frustrated, lose focus, and are unable to concentrate. My students last year preferred to lie on our classroom rug, the bare floor, or sit on the ottomans I purchased for a choice of seating while taking notes and completing their assignments. I realized their work ethics improved, they were able to focus and retain the information being taught, and they worked excellent with their group members when they were able to remove themselves from behind a desk. This is why, I know adding the bean bags as another source of seating will be the ideal solution for another choice of comfortable seating.
Every student I teach is important to me.
When I see the smile on their face when they have mastered a standard that was challenging, that is my reward. I do not need praise from anyone. Their smiles are the only praises I need and this is why I want them to be as comfortable as possible when learning.
