My Students
Hello, my name is Angela Doyle and I am a kindergarten teacher. My kindergartners will start school for the very first time this fall. We have no idea if we will be doing distance learning or in the classroom for a limited time. Kindergarten is an exciting time and the very first time most children are beginning their education and being exposed to reading, math, socializing with other children, and so many other firsts in their lives. Their first year in school is the stepping stone and the foundation to their education for the rest of their lives.
My Project
As a kindergarten teacher, I want to inspire a love of reading! I am the first teacher to many of my students! After teaching my students letter names and letter sounds, they are ready for the next step to reading which is blending. Learning to blend the sound of a consonant and vowel together. Help a child climb the phonics blend ladders with My Blend and Word Book. Using illustrated animal friends to climb the blend ladders, this phonics textbook covers blends, one and two-vowel words, and consonant blends to prepare a child to read basic readers.
After a child masters all letter sounds, they will graduate to a Blend Book.
A parent will practice a couple of pages each night with their child. During my Zoom office hour, I will have each student read the practiced page and a stamp or star will be added on my ESGI assessment platform! Once the book is completed, the student will graduate on to Level A Little Readers, then to Level B and so on.
