My Students

I have the most rewarding job teaching kindergarten to 22 eager, curious, and intelligent 5 year olds! All my kids are coming from many different cultures and backgrounds! For a lot of my kiddos English is not their first language, and it is my job create a caring community of learners!

My goal is to educate and empower all students in my class to reach their potential through academic and socially enriching experiences.

Many of my kids receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Some things going on in their lives or around them may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire the my kiddos to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

This project will provide the students access to learning new information, even if they cannot read yet!

My students love to listen to, and read as many books as they can get their hands on!

This project will make a difference in my students lives by allowing them to have access to different types of books! I am requesting more books for them to get their eager hands on! I have many books in our classroom library, however with so many little hands loving these books so very much they slowly start to get worn, torn, and sadly mourned.

In my cart I am requesting, informational non-fiction books on Cd.

This will help my students gain understand about topics that may be abstract for them to understand if they were trying to read this information on their own. The books on CD will also be helpful in the engagement department. Listening to a book on CD is sometimes more fun then having it read aloud to you, because you have some sense of independence while listening to it.

The other books in my cart are classroom sets of books that are theme related. In kindergarten we learn about and interact with many themes. Community is one theme we spend many weeks learning about. It will be beneficial to their learning to have access to books that are reflecting what are learning about.
