A Chance to be Real, Hands-On Scientists

Help me give my students opportunities to conduct hands-on, engaging biology labs. Instead of just learning about blood typing, owl food chains, and chromosomes, they will be given the chance to actually see it come to life!

My Project

Biology is the study of life, and daily I get to teach my students about real world phenomena. It's such a joy to see my students make real world connections to the content we learn in class. When learning about chromosomes and genetics, one of my students shared about his family's journey with IVF. Another student shared with me that she met someone who is living with Cystic Fibrosis two weeks after we learned about it. Connecting our lessons to the world around them really helps solidify the importance of biology. There is no better way to really connect and engage students then by hands-on investigation. This is why my project is composed of 3 different lab kits.

These lab kits will give my students an opportunity to see the content come to life!

Frequently, my students ask, "Can we do something fun today?", and with these lab kits, it will not only allow for fun activities, but it will also enrich their learning and pull in real world experiences. Instead of just hearing about chromosomes, blood typing, and food chains, these kits will allow my students a chance to be real, investigative scientists.
