This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For the first time in 23 years I will be teaching first grade. I am so excited to move with some of my former 1st graders. These students have the most resiliance I have ever seen in little ones. From not being able to do Pre K because of the lockdown, Kindergarten with weekly Covid Tests and Masks to hopefully their first year of normalcy. I love that no matter how tough things got, the kids loved to be in school and always smiling.
In March 2020 we locked down the school and all class rugs were removed with quarantine.
When we returned a year later I held off bringing it immediatly back as Covid was still very strong. My kinders and TK did great using rocker seats and trays. Now with first grade they are too big for the rockers and they need a carpet. I asked for my old Carpet and I was told they were all thrown away by the previous admin.
So my goal is to get the kiddos a nice place to sit for Morning meeting, reading time and more. All primary grades should always have a rug. I am .
