A Caribbean Christmas With No Caribbean Instruments

My students need Caribbean percussion instruments for our winter concert.

My Students

Imagine traveling to another country, without ever leaving the school building! We would like to bring the Caribbean to Ohio this winter!

Our students come from an economically disadvantaged area, and many will never get to travel far from home.

I would like to bring the Caribbean to our school this winter for a Caribbean Christmas! Our percussion class will be pairing up with the high school choir for this performance, and we just need the instruments to get us there!

My Project

As many of our students have never traveled far from home, they don't get many opportunities to experience the music of other cultures. What better way than to bring that culture to them! Students will not only get to study the music of the Caribbean, but will be able to present their experience to the student body.

My percussion class is currently without instruments.

This is the first year for the program, and will give me the opportunity to not only put the instruments in their hands, but to broaden their educational and musical experience.
