My Students
I work with a diverse group of four and five year old students. They come from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and family structures. My students have a wide range of ability levels and needs. They love coming to school to interact with their friends and learn something new.
When my students walk into the classroom they are filled with curiosity and excitement about everything around them.
As this is many of my students first school experience, I hope to create a positive classroom environment that inspires my students to become lifelong learners.
My Project
This year as I continue to create a Reggio Emilia inspired classroom environment, I hope to bring in a beautiful, natural rug to be the focal place where we can learn and grow. This rug will provoke many exciting learning opportunities and it is my hope that the children will find it a calm and safe place to take risks, problem solve and try something new.
One important aspect of the Reggio approach is using the classroom as the “third teacher” and I imagine this rug to be a special place where we build community, sing, dance, read, tell stories, and celebrate our learning together.
This rug will be filled with children performances, building structures from blocks, games, yoga and meditation. This will be a place where we can always come together to explore our world and all the wonders around us.
