This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Do you remember how school was the place where you felt safe and happy? That is what our school is for many of our students. Many of my students come to school with many worries and challenges.
When students are happy and feel safe, they succeed academically.
My project will give all my students the opportunity to go to the calming corner when they are feeling overwhelmed.
They will be able to learn the importance of using self-regulation strategies and self-care. The calming corner will be a safe haven for students and they will be able to practice mindfulness. For this corner we need floor pillows, a rug, a light table, and giant sand timer.
