Help me give my students a calm space to reduce agitation and gain some understanding about what is happening in their own bodies. The therapeutic activities are educational and will support the healing process.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
"Chase Street Elementary School has the sweetest students around" and district visitors have said. However, due to community stressors, family separation, and other traumatic life events, our students are often presenting with fearful and anxious reactions.
This calm corner will be filled with therapeutic toys, books, and charts so students can calm their anxious minds and bodies.
The plushie toys; the brain, neurons, and lungs, will be used to demonstrate the connection between stress, breathing, and learning brains. The feeling kits will help students to build "feeling-word vocabulary", learn to demonstrate facial expressions, and rehearse personal affirmations to feel secure. Our students deserve to be informed about recent discoveries in the world of Neuroscience and Ms. Lili's calm corner will provide it!
