This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are learning to manage their feelings, emotions and social skills. For many of my students, this is their first classroom experience.

Self-management is an essential skill we need to master to be successful in every aspect of our lives.

With the Calming Colors premium teardrop bean bag, children learn to de-compress by going to a quiet place to process their emotions. The books teach students to recognize feelings, to understand the cause for those feelings, and methods to deal with those feelings and emotions. Sensory manipulatives help students learn to calm their bodies through the use of one or more of their 5 senses. This allows them to re-join their classmates and gives them a sense of control.
