This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have all come across situations which lead our emotions to run high, and as a result, affect our every day routines. In order to be focused and ready for the day, one must learn to cope with these emotions and what better way to do that than with a calming space in our classroom. All of our students deserve an area like this.
"Calm down corners help children to practice identifying feelings and emotions to better manage stress, self-regulate and control their impulses.
The items I am requesting will support students to process their emotions and lift their spirits.
The tent and pillows will invite students in to this nurturing space. The weighted bear, books, and fidget toys would help sooth their emotions. They would then be able to come back to our whole group area and be ready to continue with the day.
