This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have an amazingly committed trombone section in our advanced band. I have told them that trombone is a "gateway" instrument for learning how to play the tuba; it reads the same music notes in bass clef and plays similarly low notes. Now, many of our trombone students are curious about trying to play the tuba, but due to the high cost of this instrument, we do not have one in our inventory.

We would love to have a tuba available for students to learn how to play in our Advanced Band.

Our students have learned all of the basics about how notes and rhythms work and they are ready to go farther and learn more. Offering them the opportunity to play the tuba would reward their hard work and possibly encourage them to be a tuba player in the next band that they join.
