My Students
I have a very unique group of students and we are learning during a very unique time. I have been inspired by their creativity and willingness to work hard whilst coping with an ever-changing world. They deserve the best possible education regardless of the challenges set before them.
They are a hard-working bunch and are up for a challenge.
They have been eager to dive into the 6th-grade curriculum and I want to give them as much as possible this year because they deserve it. I want them to be prepared for 7th grade.
My Project
The best way for students to improve their reading level is for them to read at their "just right" level - kind of like Goldilocks! Not too difficult and not too easy. All of the books on this list are level V (high fifth grade) because I have a pretty good collection of the other levels. I want them to have engaging books to read for silent reading time. Then, they'll be able to take quizzes, learn vocabulary and answer comprehension questions on Book Taco (sounds fun, doesn't it) all in the hopes that they will improve by at least one grade level this year.
