My project needs 1 comfy kid's couch and 1 comfy kid's chair.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hanlon's classroom raised $460
This project is fully funded
Hello! I am a first grade teacher in a large, inner city school in Durham County, North Carolina. This year I have 20 truly wonderful kids. They are some of the smartest, funniest, and most creative students you will ever meet.
One of the things I admire most about my class this year is their drive and determination. Although many of them came to school not knowing any letters or sounds, now they are reading books on first and second grade levels. They have been such an inspiration to me and have shown how anyone can become great at anything they set their mind to.
As you can imagine, part of the reason my students have made such amazing process in reading is due to the fact they love it! We have a huge class library in our room with books donated from libraries, parents, and bookstores. The students love to go over, select an exciting book, and plop down to read.
One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is to go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and read! I love to find a cozy chair, sit down, and read for hours on end. I would like to bring that same atmosphere to my classroom.
In the library I would like to add a child-sized couch and chair for my students to read in. Although they love to read now their excitement about our library would increase ten-fold with our new furniture. I can not even imagine the smiles on their faces when they see the new additions to our library.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my proposal and for your generosity towards our students!
