A Book Is A Dream You Hold In Your Hand

My students need and deserve a classroom library that is diverse, inviting, and appropriate for their many levels, not to mention with books that aren't printed in 1970.

My Students

There are many people who don't enjoy their job very much. One reason could be that they don't work with 10 year olds. Ten year olds, (MY 34 ten year olds) are enthusiastic, loving, curious, chatty, fun, and kind. These children are a joy to work with and I want to do all I can to best serve them. They deserve my best, and they deserve the best from the community as well.

These ten year olds are hard workers and its not like they have things easy.

They don't come from affluent areas, they come from broken homes, and even have language and learning barriers. But they persevere and that is why I admire them and love working with them so much.

My Project

Unfortunately, many classroom these days have such a small collection of books and if there does happen to be a lot of books, they are old, brittle paged, uninviting and antiquated. My students deserve better, but we are not really given funds for this invaluable need for wonderful books in decent condition.

Books can change a person's life.

A reluctant reader sometimes just needs a special book to turn everything around. It's a fact that good readers are more likely to do well in school and do you think they become good readers because of some lecture or explanation in class? NO! They became good readers because they found some books to love. I need to have good books for this to happen.
