This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In today's diverse and interconnected world, literature has a profound role in fostering empathy, understanding, and social change. Through the lens of Manuelito, a young immigrant protagonist, this book explores themes of identity, belonging, and the pursuit of the American Dream.

The inclusion of this book has the purpose of sparking meaningful conversations and promoting empathy and understanding while elevating the voice of an underrepresented group in literature, immigrant teens.

The protagonist's journey is perilous. Nonetheless, the graphic novel format keeps the content age-appropriate and engaging for middle school readers.

Mrs. Lizano will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 5.
