This year is my second year with my fabulous students. My children are full of love and energy wrapped up into beautiful pint sized packages. They are from various cultures and backgrounds, who will enter the classroom this year with a strong sense of community and respect for one another. My students range from 6-7 years old who are exceptionally inquisitive, physical, and multi-sensory learners.
Our class enjoys the process of research as it provides them with an opportunity to engage in new learning, question themselves, each another and the world around them.
Following the completion of our individualized research, the children share their newly acquired information to a larger audience, including school administrators, teachers and parents. This provides my students with opportunities to share their learning through public speaking, utilization of technology, and solidly internalize their research. We are truly a community global explorers.
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an incredible interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
