Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
My scholars are eager to learn, excel and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for eighteen years and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
My Project
Children love being leaders and we are teaching them to love literacy and books. By providing them with a variety of journals, books, and other written logs, our kids will learn the importance of reading. Specifically, we will use the books to learn more about Arabic holidays and customs. Books can take them to places and they can travel while still remaining in one spot. Books can provide inspiration, ideas and foster seeds of hope. Books are the means for them to succeed. Books are the past, present, and future of learning and leading.
Your donation will foster greater growth, collaboration, and creation.
Through the requested books, scholars will think more critically and learn to be more reflective. Thank you for your time, support, and consideration of urban, at-risk public school children! When you care about them, you care about the future.
