Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our second-grade classroom, we are working toward an exciting goal: a Book-a-Day read-aloud experience that exposes students to rich stories, diverse characters, and big ideas all year long. Reading aloud every day builds vocabulary, listening comprehension, empathy, and a lifelong love of books—especially for students who may not have many books at home.

This project will provide high-quality read-aloud books to support our Book-a-Day goal, along with a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card so I can purchase engaging lessons, discussion guides, and extension activities that bring these stories to life.

These resources help students think deeply, talk about what they read, and make meaningful connections across subjects.

We are also requesting a class pack of Play-Doh, which may sound simple, but plays an important role in learning. During and after read-alouds, students use Play-Doh to model characters, settings, story problems, and key ideas. This hands-on element helps young learners stay focused, express their thinking, and engage creatively—especially students who learn best by doing.

With your support, my students will read, listen, discuss, and create every single day. This project will help make reading joyful, interactive, and accessible for all learners in our classroom.

Thank you for helping us build a year full of stories, imagination, and learning!
