Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-grade teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district in the South Bronx. My class is filled with vibrant, eager learners who require a variety of ways to learn. About seventy-five percent of my students are performing below grade level. Many of my students live in shelters, receive out-of-classroom services for speech, reading, and math, and are English language learners or have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
My students face many challenges each day and deserve nothing short of the best to help them reach their full potential and beyond.
For many of them, I am the only comfort, security, and positive source in their life. I want to make my students feel welcomed, appreciated, loved, and know that they can do anything they put their minds to!
My Project
I am requesting gift cards to help motivate my students to come to school everyday. I want to celebrate them and motivate them to do their best. The students have returned back to school for in-person learning and I know most of them are accustomed to remote learning and being in the comfort of their homes. Now it's time for them to come back to the school building. Attendance is very important and I would like to provide my students with attendance incentives.
I would like to provide gift cards to my students to encourage them to come to school every day and work hard.
Despite what is going on in the world around them, I want them to know that they are loved, smart, and important. These gift cards will be able to motivate students to come to school every day and to do their best.
