Welcome to the amazing world of a high school teacher! I currently teach 9th and 11th grade English at a low-income inner-city school. It is one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences that I could ever ask for.
My students are fascinated by the wonders of technology but sometimes not by the wonders of the importance of education. It is my hope as an educator to prepare my students for life beyond high school, college. I believe that even though they face more obstacles in obtaining a higher education that each and every one of them is capable of reaching this ultimate goal in life. The use of technology hooks in the attention and focus of my students. So while they are overjoyed by their teacher using exciting new technological devices, they are also learning.
In order for this to continue to be possible I am in need of a document camera. This will allow for students to be involved in their learning. Modeling is key for students and this device allows the teacher to SHOW students exactly what they should be doing on a bigger screen for all to see. Students become actively engaged and prepared for higher learning. This also gives those students who have never been told they could do anything right, the opportunity to feel as though they are real students on task. By following the teacher's instruction they will in turn be able to internalize the skills needed to graduate high school and go on to obtain a college education.
