Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Imagine being a student asked to sit still in a rigid chair for six hours a day—fidgeting, stretching, and trying your best to stay focused. Now imagine being given the freedom to choose a seat that helps you think, move, and learn in the way that works best for you.
That’s what flexible seating can offer my students—and why I’m asking for your support.
I teach a remarkable group of 5th graders who are curious, compassionate, and brimming with potential. They come from diverse backgrounds, many facing challenges outside the classroom that are far beyond their years. But when they enter the classroom, they bring resilience, hope, and a deep desire to learn.
Flexible seating, such as balance ball chairs, floor cushions, standing desks, and floor chairs, give students the opportunity to choose how they learn best. Research shows that this kind of classroom setup improves focus, engagement, collaboration, and emotional well-being.
The goal:
To raise $800.00 to equip my classroom with a variety of flexible seating options so that every student can learn in comfort and with dignity.
