My Students

I have the unique opportunity to be a school counselor of some really fabulous students. It is the best job I have ever had. My role is to provide social-emotional learning to students that really need it.

My students are very energetic, which means I have to always be ready with engaging guidance lessons to keep them attentive.

We meet once a week to discuss, play games, role play, and watch videos related to the topics such as anti-bullying, conflict-resolution, friendship, etc.

Our school is an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school, and we are working on becoming college and career ready. We are also a STEAM school in which we want to enhance our students' skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

My Project

Students will learn about respect, kindness, friendship, conflict resolution, self esteem, and about STEM careers. These books will be used during my counseling class lessons with students. These books will also be used to do individual and group projects with various grades.

Students sometimes struggle with being kind and often need help with conflict resolution.

This can affect their self esteem because they think and feel that no one likes them or wants to be around them. Also, since we are a STEAM school, I would like for students to learn more about STEM careers.

It is my goal to help students become their best self. Planning lessons using these books for guidance lessons, small group, or an individual lesson, will help students thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
