My Students

My students are bright, intellectually curious, and bursting with energy! They love to socialize and have fun, but they also take great pride in their work. They really come alive when given the opportunity to collaborate on projects and other tasks. They are also capable of deep reflection and this leads to incredibly insightful comments during class discussions.

My students have formed a caring, respectful community that respects the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of each individual.

With few exceptions, they have been together since kindergarten. Their shared history and care and concern for one another makes for a classroom that is a safe space in which everyone feels comfortable being exactly who they are.

My Project

Please help me provide my students with a beautiful, color-coordinated library!

Presenting books in a visually appealing way is the first step to increasing student interest in reading.

These book bins will help me create an inviting classroom library. It is my hope that my students will look forward to browsing these bins for new books to read and that, this academic year, they will begin to self-identify as life-long readers to the extent that they have not done so already. Books were certainly my passion in elementary school and it is my hope to instill this passion in my students!
