My Project

My goal for all my students is to exit high school as self-sufficient individuals who can thrive both at home and in their communities. One critical objective in achieving this goal is teaching students with disabilities how to perform basic laundry and domestic skills that are often overlooked.

Obtaining a washer, dryer, and dishwasher for my classroom will provide students with disabilities valuable hands-on instruction in essential life skills.

These appliances will allow students to practice real-world tasks in a structured, supportive environment helping them build the confidence and ability to perform these same tasks independently outside of the classroom.

Students will learn how to sort clothes by color and fabric, measure detergent, operate a washer and dryer, fold clothing, and operate a dishwasher. Students will also learn the importance of personal hygiene and the role clean clothing plays in social situations, employment readiness, and personal pride. By mastering these skills, students will be better prepared for independent or semi-independent living after high school, giving them a sense of dignity, responsibility, and self-confidence.

Funding from donors like you will allow me to create a simulated laundry environment within the classroom where students can learn and practice regularly. Your support will be greatly appreciated in helping my students become self-sufficient.
