My Project
My students love connecting our learning to what they know from home. As we learn how to build and create words, they get excited as they figure out that the CVC word says something like dog, cat, or hat. Every day, we spend a great amount of our academic time learning about blending and segmenting words. Students have opportunities to manipulate letter names and sounds to build words. However, I do not have the materials to make this phonics learning as fun and engaging as I know it can be.
With your help, I would like to create a class set of phonics blending boards to increase student engagement in creating words.
Each student's individual blending board will include magnetic letters for creating words, colorful magnets to help them blend and segment, and elkonin boxes to provide a space for students to practice writing the words they built.
