Help me give my students the materials needed to type the blood found at our crime scene!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Simon's classroom raised $443

My Project
Blood typing materials are essential for high school forensic science classes because they provide students with hands-on experience in a fundamental techniques used in criminal investigations. When students work with simulated blood samples and typing reagents, they develop practical laboratory skills while learning how ABO and Rh blood groups can help identify suspects, victims, or exclude individuals from crime scenes. This direct engagement with real forensic lab experience helps students understand the scientific process behind evidence analysis and builds critical thinking skills as they interpret results and draw conclusions about potential matches or exclusions.
For students from low-income backgrounds and English Language Learners, hands-on laboratory experiences are particularly valuable because they provide multiple pathways to understanding complex concepts.
Visual and tactile learning through blood typing experiments can help bridge language barriers and make abstract scientific concepts more concrete and accessible. These materials also expose students to potential STEM career paths they might not otherwise encounter, potentially opening doors to fields like forensic science, medical technology, or laboratory sciences. The collaborative nature of lab work also supports ELL students by encouraging peer interaction and vocabulary development in a meaningful scientific context, while ensuring that all students regardless of economic background have equal access to engaging, college-preparatory science experiences.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
